The 3 American bloggers namely Peter C. Engelmann, Janice Formichella and Sarah Couture Popewrote in their collective complaint that Philippine Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III did not made any citation for their works as the senator allegedly copied parts of their blog posts for the senator's privileged speeches at the Philippine Senate for the controversial RH Bill.
The collective complaint was signed last October 1 and the 3 US bloggers will file the complaint to Philippine Senate Ethics Committee headed by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
"Neither Senator Sotto nor anyone associated with him requested permission to use our articles and blog entries, or contacted us or anyone associated with our publications."
"We find this misuse of our work to be deceptive, unethical, illegal and unacceptable."
Allegedly, the following articles were copied by Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III for his speech last August 13 and 15:
“Gandhi and Sanger Debate Love, Lust and Birth Control” na isinulat ni Peter C. Engelman para sa The Margaret Sanger Papers Project Newsletter, Issue 23 (Winter 1999/2000).
“Gandhi’s Birth Control of Choice” ni Janice Formichella para sa Feminists For Choice (February 5, 2010).
“How The ‘Pill’ Can Harm Your Future Child’s Health” ni Sarah Pope para sa blog niyang The Healthy Home Economist (February 23, 2011).
In a text message received by GMANews, Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III expressed:
"It's a welcome development because that will give me a chance to prove there was no such thing [plagiarism accusations]."
