Instead of holding a lavish birthday party for her two daughters, Ruffa Gutierrez opted for a more meaningful celebration this year. Aside from family, friends, and relatives, the I Love Betty La Fea star also invited 20 kids from World Vision to Lorin and Venice’s joint birthday party held last September 6 at The Fun Ranch in Pasig City. “Gift ko sa kanila itong party and also prayers. I want them to be good students and good daughters. I also wanted the kid’s party to have more social awareness for Lorin and
The Hannah Montana-Cheetah Girls-themed costume party was a success as the kids enjoyed the rides, kiddie salon, face painting, and an exciting acrobat show. Lorin, who turned five last month, showed off her fashionista side in a Cheetah Girls-inspired get-up complete with matching cape and boots while younger sister Venice, who turns four on September 11, was dressed up as her idol Hannah Montana. The two had fun mingling and playing games with their guests and with mom Ruffa during a tandem guessing game.
Definitely in mommy mode that day, Ruffa showed she was definitely a hands-on mom from the moment they arrived at the venue until all the guests left. While trying to pacify a visibly clingy Lorin, the beauty queen mom patiently told her daughter to try and make friends with their new guests. “I think it’s good that we can raise kids to be more aware of other kids in different situations. I read a lot of parenting books. I think it’s better to train the kids now because it will be more difficult to train them when they get older. Para alam na nila kung anong dapat nilang gawin, kung ano yung right manners, what’s good and what’s bad. So that when they grow up, I don’t want them growing up na spoiled kids,” she stated.
After nearly three hours of fun, Ruffa happily announced that guest Assunta De Rossi had signed up with World Vision to sponsor two children while Mother Lily Monteverde had pledged to help another five. “We want to help in any way we can. Gagawin naming lahat ng paraan to send more kids to school,” Ruffa stressed. According to David Liban, Direct Marketing Manager for World Vision, “Our collaboration with Ruffa all started with the RRRampa For A Cause last year. She donated a big sum of money. Along with her brothers Richard and Raymond, they sponsored six kids for the next ten years. And the remainder of the money that they donated will be used para sa other children. The kids from
Party-cum-charity-event as it was, there was still a showbiz touch to the festivities. While giving away prizes during the games, Ruffa suddenly shrieked, “Oh my God, muntik nako ma-Bea!” when she almost slipped onstage. Ruffa was referring to I Love Betty La Fea co-star Bea Alonzo’s now infamous slip while she was walking down the ramp at the MetroWear Gala Randy Ortiz fashion show last September 4.
Celebrity guests included Ruffa’s half-brother Tonton Gutierrez (who arrived with adorable little daughter Alyssa), Assunta De Rossi, Bubbles Paraiso, Sharmaine Arnaiz who came with her husband and two sons Miguel and Gabriel, sisters Michelle and Ehra Madrigal, JM Rodriguez, and Mother Lily Monteverde. Ruffa’s Betty La Fea co-star Meryll Soriano and son Elijah, who came in matching yellow tops, also dropped by to enjoy the party. “I wish
