Albert Martinez attests to Jericho Rosales’ fame in Malaysia

Multi-awarded actor Albert Martinez said that he was in awe with Jericho Rosales’s popularity in Malaysia. When they went to the said country to tape for episodes of their upcoming teleserye, Kahit Isang Saglit, Albert said that their work was made easy all because of Echo. “Alam mong sikat si Echo sa Malaysia, kasi kahit sa mga checkpoints pinapadaan kami kapag nakikita siya. ‘Yun, marami kaming perks na nakukuha because of him,” the actor beamed.

Jericho gained popularity from the said country when his widely-hit soap opera, Pangako Sa ‘Yo --with Kristine Hermosa as his leading lady—was televised in Malaysia in the year 2000. His acting abilities and good looks caught the attention of Malaysian viewers and became a household name. It is also because of this fact that the Malaysian production outfit, Double Vision, wanted Jericho to be the lead star in Kahit Isang Saglit, a co-production with ABS-CBN.

Albert also added that it helped a lot that the Double Vision team has been very accommodating hosts to them. The Filipino cast and crew had to stay and shoot in Malaysia for two months. “I’m thankful to Double Vision because they treated us properly in their country. Hindi kami yung tago nang tago, o pag may pulis tatakbo. Nasabi ko nga, ‘ito ang production.’ They really made our work a lot easier and memorable.”

Albert plays the role of a Filipino who fell in love with a Malaysian woman and had a child named, Garie (played by Malaysian superstar Carmen Soo). Conflict arises when he had to leave his family to go back to the Philippines. Kahit Isang Saglit premieres on September 15 on Primetime Bida.
