For Aiko Melendez , it pays to be happy

For Aiko Melendez , it pays to be happy

By Bernie Franco

Actress-politician Aiko Melendez shared during her interview on The Buzz yesterday (August 24) that she believes the blessings she’s receiving is the result of her positive outlook in life. "Siguro ang disposisyon ko talaga ngayon is happy and then every thing follows. Kung ang disposisyon mo masaya, pati ‘yung outlook mo. I guess it pays to be happy," explained the Quezon City councilor.

Her looking at things positively also included patching things up with the father of her daughter, Martin Jickain. The actress revealed that she and her ex-husband are now communicating for the welfare of Marthena. "We text each other when we have to," Aiko said of Martin. "Kapag may kailangan siyang alamin (tungkol kay Marthena) and ako naman never akong naging madamot when it comes to my children. Gusto ko pa nga dalasan pa nila ang pagdalaw sa mga anak ko." However, Aiko admitted that she and Martin have not reached the point of becoming friends again just yet. "Hindi pa siguro kami ready maging chummy-chummy. Pero at least okey na yung nagte-text-an kami when we have to and when there’s a need to," she said.

Aiko is also not denying that she is seeing Bulacan, Bulacan Vice Mayor Patrick Meneses, who she thanks for being very patient and understanding of her situation.

"I’m just blessed dahil sa sobrang dami-dami ng inaayos kong problema, he’s been very patient. He’s been very good not only to me but to my kids as well. Sabi ko nga marunong magbalanse ang Diyos dahil hindi niya (Patrick) ako minamadali. Kung anuman ang puwede kong ibigay sa kanya ngayon, andyan lang siya para sa akin. Salamat sa kanya."

After five years of absence from main stream showbiz, Aiko is set to make a comeback via ABS-CBN’s Your Song. Although she has won a best actress award before, Aiko confessed that she is undergoing some adjustments. "Medyo mangangapa pa ako, pero since maganda yung storya, I’m positive naman maganda ang kakalabasan nito," she explained. The month-long, once a week series which starts this August 31, also stars John Prats, Christian Vasquez and Krista Ranilo.
