During the press con of Dyosa last August 4 at the Manila Ocean Park, Epy Quizon expressed his sentiments over Alma Moreno’s refusal to share her controversial history with Dolphy, her ex-husband and father of her son Vandolph. He stressed that it could have made the Comedy King’s tell-all biography more balanced if only she agreed to give her side of the story. Nevertheless, Epy claimed that whatever Dolphy divulged about his rocky marriage with Alma, they were not intended to criticize her actions back then. "My father was just showing you a glimpse of life in the industry. Kumbaga at that time, ang sinasabi niya, it was too busy around Ness (Alma). I mean, she has a dance show where she [always] had to rehearse and mingle [with everyone]. So my father was just saying it was too busy for her to give Vandolph time."
On a lighter note, hearing this chapter of his father’s life helped Epy understand why there was a time the former focused all his attention on Vandolph. Perhaps to fill in his needs under the said circumstances and because he is an "only child" out of Dolphy’s marriage to Alma, said Epy. But all that sibling rivalry (for Dolphy’s time and affection) is behind them now for Dolphy has been a great provider and a great mentor for him and his siblings after all.
The award-winning actor then recounted that one of his fondest memories with his father was when the latter announced his Gawad Urian Best Supporting Actor award in 2000 for the movie, Markova: Comfort Gay, which also won him a Prix dela Meillure or a Best Actor award in Belgium. "Nagulat si Dad kasi pagbukas niya ng envelope pangalan ko yung nakalagay. Sobrang happy niya for me na tipong umaakyat palang ako ng stage, niyakap na niya ko para i-congratulate," he recounted.
Catch Epy Quizon as he showcases his acting prowess by playing a half-man half-goat character (or a faun in Greek mythology), who also holds the key to Josephine’s (Anne Curtis) real identity in Dyosa, starting this Monday, August 11, on Primetime Bida.
