Although he decided to take a break from the world of showbiz, Comedy King Dolphy agreed to do a movie with comedian Vic Sotto, making Dobol Trobol their first team up on the big screen. "Nung malaman kong gagawa kami (ng pelikula) ni Vic…dream daw niya yun eh, ‘O sige,’ kako, ‘gawin natin.’’’ And he was pretty happy with the result. "Palagay ko naman maganda ang chemistry namin," he said.
When asked what advice he would like to give Vic, whom he mentioned in a recent interview as his successor, Dolphy humored: "Malandi siya eh, pareho ko din. Ako, tahimik na, nung nakita ko na si Zsa Zsa (Padilla), tumigil na ko. Sabi ko (kay Vic), ‘Nakita mo na si Pia (Guanio), tumigil ka na rin.’"
But Dolphy suddenly turned serious when he was asked about when he and partner Zsa Zsa would finally get married. "Yung tadhana ang nakakaalam niyan.Di pa naa-approve ang kanyang annulment (case with her first husband). Matagal nang naka-pending, hindi ko alam kung bakit," he revealed.
Dolphy, who also celebrated his 80th birthday last July 25, said that the most memorable gift he received was when Studio 1 in the ABS-CBN Compound was named after him. It is now called The Dolphy Theater. "Pumanaw man ako sa mundo, meron akong iiwanang legacy sa ABS-CBN," Dolphy said, crediting all his fans for his success as a comedian.
