The sexiest Kapamilyas strut their stuff on the catwalk
By Manila P. Santos
Last July 25, the Araneta Coliseum was abuzz with excitement for the 4th Bench denim and underwear fashion show. With tickets sold out as early as days before the actual show, the anticipation was high on who would show what and to what extent in Bench's big show this year. The theme was entitled Blackout and featured the works of foremost Filipino artists photographer Jun De Leon, filmmaker Raymond Red, fashion designer Lesley Lobo and graphic designer Abi Goy. Sexy models and celebrities showed off their chiseled bodies and strutted their stuff in designer wear mixed with Bench's hottest items this season. My Girl stars Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu heralded the parade of celebrities while pairing colorful denim with haute coutre tops. Hunks Rafael Rosell, Bruce Quebral, Jon Estrada, Jon Avila, along with Be Bench model winner Carlo Vergara and runner-up John James Uy delighted the audience as they walked the stage wearing Bench's new line of briefs.
Angelica Panganiban, who was reportedly originally supposed to wear a T-back bikini but wore a a basic set instead after asking permission from Star Magic head Mr. Manahan, was a sight to behold with her obviously leaner, sportier body. The audience thought they were in for a let-down when newest endorser Dingdong Dantes came out wearing a pair of jeans, but the hunky actor elicited the loudest cheers after dropping his pants for the audience. For the first time, Diether Ocampo walked the stage sans his usual partner Kristine Hermosa. Diet says Tin-tin is currently abroad, which is why she also missed his birthday celebration last week.
Richard Gutierrez's parents Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez, as well as twin brother Raymond showed up to show support for Richard. Seen talking with them were Richard's ex-flame Anne Curtis (who came to watch current boyfriend Sam Milby) and Australia-based model and student Georgina Wilson. Kris Aquino and James Yap also stayed throughout the show to show support for Ben Chan (Kris, along with good friend Lucy Torres-Gomez, design a line of women's wear for Kashieca, which is also owned by Bench) and were seen seated next to a conspicuously dateless Ogie Alcasid. PBB Teens Plus housemates Robi Domingo, Valerie Weignmann, and Ejay Falcon showed they've definitely got fan power when they came out to lots of cheers and applause from audience. John Estrada and his Brazilian girlfriend Priscilla Meirelles also had a ball showing off their sexy bodies in their individual turns on stage while Christian Bautists shows he still has chemistry on and off stage with Rachelle Ann Go. Iya Villania, Shaina Magdayao, Rica Peralejo and Sarah Geronimo also shined on stage despite their more conservative outfits.
To cap off the show, Bench honcho Ben Chan walked the stage alongside longtime Bench endorser Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres-Gomez to join the rest of the models and celebrities onstage. After two tiring days of rehearsals, all the hard work paid off with the Araneta Coliseum being fully packed and no tickets left to spare.
