Roxanne to critics: ‘Wala akong pakialam!"
By Bernie Franco
Ligaw na Bulaklak star Roxanne Guinoo stressed that her decision to appear sexy on the cover of a men’s magazine is not a form of rebellion from her previous heartbreak, but simply because she loves her body. "Wala naman akong reason para magrebelde," explained the actress on The Buzz yesterday (July 20). Roxanne is the cover girl of Maxim Philippines’ July 2008 issue.
She also said that she does not care if her critics would pass judgment on her for posing sexy. "Sa mga criticisms, wala na akong pakialam dun, dahil hindi naman ibang tao ang magbibigay ng presyo sa akin kundi sarili ko. And hindi ko kailangan i-prove yun sa ibang tao kundi sa sarili ko," she said.
Roxanne, who was shown wearing only a lei covering her breasts, also revealed that her family was a bit uncomfortable with the pictorial. "Kinabahan sila, parang gusto nilang tanggalin lahat ng bulaklak sa garden," she said jokingly. "Every time nakikita nila, naaalala nila na ‘Yan lang ang nakatakip sa anak ko.’ Pero andun naman yung support nila." She also shared that she explained to her family that it was just part of her job as an actress.
When Boy Abunda asked if she is currently happy, Roxanne immediately answered: "Masaya po ang puso ko sa trabaho." She admitted that she has suitors but she chooses not to entertain anyone. "Ayokong pabayaan ang trabaho ko. Andun yung focus ko sa work, eh. Kung papasukan ko ng ganyan, baka masira ang concentration ko sa work," she said. The actress also confirmed that a TV director courted her but told him that it is better if they remain just friends.
