Judy Ann Santos tells all

By Napoleon Quintos

Judy Ann Santos goes beyond her duties as an actress and reaches out to the less-fortunate through her Touch A Heart Foundation. The 30-year old actress was recently at the Tutuban Mall for launch of the Canister Drive, a fund-raising tie up between her own foundation and the Tutuban Mall management. The partnership is aimed at providing education and livelihood programs to different depressed areas most especially to the Aeta communities in Zambales. Judai says that she finds it important to return the blessings she has been given in her 20 years in showbiz. She also wants to inspire other people to do a lot of good in their lives.

In spite being engaged last month to actor Ryan Agoncillo, she remains preoccupied with a lot of things apart from the preparations for her wedding. The actress says that they are taking their time, especially now that both of them are at the peak of their careers. "We’re (she and Ryan) not really sure if it’s going to be a long engagement. It’s just that we’re taking our time. Hindi naman kapag na-engaged na ang isang couple ibig sabihin magpapakasal agad. Kanya-kanya namang desisyon yan. We need to settle everything first, like yung iba pang commitments," Judai said, referring to their pending TV engagements.

She also broke her silence on her "system loss" infomercial for Meralco which elicited negative reactions from political groups. "Tapos na ako dun. Naipagdasal ko na lahat ng taong bumatikos sa akin. They have their own opinion. Kaya ko tinanggap yung trabaho kasi napaliwanagan naman ako ng maayos sa tamang pagbabayad ng kuryente. Ang sinasabi ko (sa informercial) ay ang pagkaka-intindi ko at ipinaliliwanag ko ng maayos yun sa mga tao. Yung ginawa ko is not something purely for Meralco. It’s an infomercial, it’s factual at pinaniniwalaan ko."

Since Meralco is a sister company of ABS-CBN, the issue about her switching networks also came up. Judy Ann says she has spoken with the big bosses of the Kapamilya network about keeping a nice relationship with the rival station, GMA. "We had a very casual talk. I explained to them that I have a very nice relationship with GMA. I really appreciate all their help for promoting Ploning. Naintindihan naman yun ng mga executives ng ABS-CBN. I’m very thankful na naayos na ang lahat." she revealed.

Judai is doing several projects under her home network including a new teleserye titled Humiling Ka Lang Sa Langit and a sitcom with Ryan. A movie with Claudine Barretto is also said to be in its planning stages.
