Has Willie found Miss Right?
Could it be true that Willie Revillame has found a new love in the person of a simple CEU student, younger than Meryll Soriano (the eldest of Willie's children) who hails from Bulacan? (Good for him, after all, hasn't he been "complaining" on Wowowee that he goes home to a big, empty, lonely house which has everything except a "queen"?)
Could it be true that he has already drawn a "last will," with all his love children well provided for? (Willie has a country house in Batangas, a few more in various Metro Manila locations - with the one in Ayala Heights in Alabang said to be now in Meryll's name - and a yacht.)
Could it be true that he's buying a building somewhere in the Timog-Morato area in Quezon City, worth P80 million?
Those were the questions Willie left hanging when he and his entourage left for the US for the staging of Wowowee last Saturday, July 12, at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, produced by Calla Lily Productions.
Unfortunately, Funfare's Big Apple correspondent Edmund Silvestre (of The Filipino Reporter) wasn't able to ask Willie those questions during the presscon in Atlantic City, mainly because Willie was "MIA" (know what it means?). (But promise, I will ask Willie as soon as he comes home maybe today.)
Here's Edmund's report:
With Wowowee saddled lately by controversies, one of which led to the firing of one of its hosts, Precious Lara Quigaman, for bringing her boyfriend and mother to a Wowowee show abroad, the female hosts were "well-behaved" for the latest overseas staging of ABS-CBN's top-rated game show, this time at the Boardwalk Hall (former home of the Miss America Pageant) in Atlantic City, New Jersey (the Las Vegas of the East Coast).
Meaning, no one among Willie's co-hosts Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion, and guest hosts Kristine Hermosa, Angelica Panganiban and Roxanne Guinoo, as well as the sultry dance trio of Milagring, Luningning and Mariposa, brought along a boyfriend.
"Wala, kasi wala naman kaming boyfriend lahat," the girls replied almost in chorus when asked if anyone had a boyfriend who tagged along.
"Ako siguradong wala talaga," said the ever lovely Kristine whose separation from actor Diether Ocampo was a big story not long ago.
Mariel, who is reportedly dating actor-model Zanjoe Marudo, could only smile and nod to imply that she too was "well-behaved" in this trip.
A Wowowee staffer said the stars had been reminded to refrain from doing something that might put them in hot water, although they all denied that there was a specific instruction, especially from Willie.
"No, there was no instruction whatsoever," said Valerie.
A serious Roxanne said there's no need to remind them of what to do.
"Pag trabaho, trabaho lang talaga," she said. "'Yun lang din naman ang gusto ni Willie, focus lang sa work so we can give our best."
She added with a smile, "At wala kaming mga boyfriend."
It's not a secret that Roxanne recently ended her relationship with hunky boyfriend Jake Cuenca, who is now being linked to Bea Alonzo.
Angelica looked sad so it must be true that she and Derek Ramsay have broken up (something which Derek has denied).
The stars were smart parrying sensitive questions from the media and instead talked about their craft and how they wanted to grow as actresses. Moreover, they expressed hope to see the day when the talents of ABS-CBN can cross over to work with the rival GMA 7 and vice versa.
"What if joint forces lahat, ideas and talents of ABS-CBN and GMA 7, lahat magkakasama to bring the entertainment industry in the Philippines to a new level," said Roxanne. "Can you imagine kung walang network war? This could lead to other positive changes."
Roxanne lauded Regal Film's Lily Monteverde for doing what seemed to be impossible before, i.e., bringing together Kapuso and Kapamilya artists in one movie. She said if Mother Lily can do it, why can't the two giant networks? Perhaps Roxanne's wishes will be fulfilled when the debut film of KC Concepcion (a Kapamilya) opposite Richard Gutierrez (a Kapuso) comes to fruition.
Meanwhile, Willie was MIA (Missing In Action) during the presscon. Also missing was co-host Pokwang who is now a big name among Pinoys in the US East Coast.
"Saan ba si Pokwang," reporters kept asking. "Saan si Willie?"
Wowowee people said Willie couldn't make it because he was exhausted from the trip, but it was not clear where Pokwang was.
"Hindi kaya magkasama 'yung dalawa?" one reporter joked.
No, hindi po kumulog at kumidlat sa Atlantic City. Hehehehe!
