EXCLUSIVE: Enchong Dee’s memories of Baguio
By Napoleon Quintos
Heavy rains disrupted the first taping of My Girl in Baguio last Wednesday, July 9. ABS-CBN.com was there during the three-day out-of-town shoot and managed to catch up with Enchong Dee at the Lions Club office. While waiting for the set-up, the young actor granted an exclusive interview to ABS-CBN.com to share his excitement about his first time to tape a show in the City of Pines.
Enchong wasn’t able to join when Abt Ur Luv went to Baguio for a shoot. But he doesn’t feel bad because he and his family frequently visit Baguio usually thrice every year. Apparently, Enchong’s parents love the cool the weather in the Summer Capital. However, the only difference between his latest visit to his previous trips is his celebrity status. "Last time kasi na nagpunta ako ng Baguio hindi pa ako artista. Noon naglalakad pa ako sa papuntang grotto, dedma lang yung mga tao. Ngayon may mga tumitingin na so medyo nakakailang. Although flattering pero kasi kailangan behave ka."
The 19-year old champion swimmer further went on to share his unforgettable vacation experiences in Baguio. "Nung nagpa-picture kami sa mga Igorot. Akala ko nun okay lang magpa-picture sa kanila, nalaman ko na lang na may bayad. At least now I know na hindi pala sila libre (laughs)." Everytime he and his family would take the six-hour drive up the cold heights, they would often try out the rented bicycles at the Burnham Park and the adventurous horseback riding at the Wright Park. Enchong revealed that his parents would only allow him to ride the sidecar bikes to avoid accidents. Although he had tried to the horseback riding several times, he still insists on having a guide by his side in fear that his horse will just suddenly snap and drop him on the ground.
Enchong also talked about Nico, his role in My Girl as the guy who will get in between Julian and Jasmine. "Dito sa Baguio, hinahabol ko si Jasmine. Magkakaroon kasi ng usapan sina Nico at Julian na kung sino ang unang makakita kay Jasmine, sa kanya na siya. Abangan niyo na lang kung anong mga mangyayari." he shares. In real life, Enchong is honored to have been chosen to play triangle to the hit love team of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. He says that despite the initial violent reactions from the Kimerald supporters, eventually he observed that more and more followers of the show are also in favor of Nico for Jasmine. Enchong’s convincing performance later caught the attention of the ABS-CBN management. "Being chosen to play triangle to the Kimerald love team is the happiest moment in my career kasi ang daming dumating na opportunities. Maraming tao ang nakakilala sa akin and the management recognized me compared to the other shows that I’ve done."
Find out if Nico will win Jasmine from Julian on My Girl, weeknights after Iisa Pa Lamang. Also, keep it on www.Showbiztop.blogspot.com and mygirltv.multiply.com for more exclusive stories, photos, and videos from the My Girl taping in Baguio.
