Dolphy regrets not doing a movie with FPJ

Dolphy’s dream movie will remain a dream. It’s because his ideal co-star is already gone.

In one of those rare occasions they were together, the late Fernando Poe, Jr. (FPJ) told him that they had better do a project. This of course is not going to happen anymore.

"Alam mo, erap, kailangang gumawa na tayo ng pelikula na magkasama bago man lang tayo mawala sa mundo para may remembrance tayo," FPJ had requested him.

The idea was still so vivid in one of Dolphy’s trusted men during the launch of the comedian’s biography, "Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa," at the NBC Tent at The Fort Wednesday night.

According to his henchman, the plan was hatched a few months before FPJ died. There were concrete things already drafted like a storyline. He said his boss was already ready to team up with the King of Philippines Movies.

"Nanghihinayang nga si Boss dahil hindi natuloy ang pagsasama nila ni FPJ sa pelikula," informed De la Cruz, Dolphy’s right-hand man.

From there on, the Comedy King never let go off of exciting and big plans. One of them was a movie with another legend in the comic vein, Vic Sotto.

When APT Productions offered him a film with Vic, Dolphy didn’t hesitate, he immediately accepted the proposal.

"Dodol Trobol," a combination of the King and Prince of Comedy is now under wraps.

As a matter of fact, it has a trailer that was shown at the book launch. Everyone was thrilled to be able to see the pair in a movie. It was one of the surprise productions initiated during the launch.

Before 2008 is over, the Dolphy-Vic movie will explode on the screen.

Some of Dolphy’s guests, friends like Susan Roces, Daisy Romualdez, Celia Rodriguez, Azucena Vera-Perez, Marichu Vera-Perez Maceda, Gloria Romero, Charo Santos-Concio, Eddie Gutierrez, Edu Manzano, Armida and Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Bibeth Orteza who wrote down Dolphy’s memoirs and many more were amazed how the Comedy King has continue to manage a vibrant life despite being eighty years old.

"Tatagal pa ang Boss ko ng maraming taon," assured the trusted alalay.

On July 31, 2008 at the Meralco Theater, Dolphy will be treated to a big blowout by ABS-CBN as he celebrates a post-birthday party.
