Bianca Lapus reacts on her and Vhong Navarro’s annulment case

By MJ Felipe

Last July 2, 2008, the court under Associate Justice Jose L Sabio handed down the decision on the annulment filed by Ferdinand "Vhong" Navarro against his ex-wife Lalaine "Bianca" Lapuz, declaring their marriage null and void on the basis of Article 36 of the Family Code of the Philippines. Vhong and Bianca got married on January 20, 1998 before the municipal mayor of Floridablanca in Pampanga. Bianca was already in her sixth month of pregnancy when they tied the knot.

ABS-CBN.com was able to secure a copy of the decision and according to the document, the annulment was granted on the reason that Bianca was psychologically incapacitated to perform the marital obligations expected of her in her marriage with Vhong. We quote: "In the present case, the immaturity, insensitivity, irresponsibility, and serial infidelity of the respondent, as well as her complete disregard of her marriage and inability to view herself as a wife and mother, have been adequately shown."

When ABS-CBN.com asked Vhong for his reaction to the ruling, the TV host-comedian begged off since the respondent—in this case Bianca—has fifteen days to appeal. According to Atty. Donn Bacay, Bianca's legal counsel, they are currently working on how to deal with the decision. ABS-CBN.com also spoke to Bianca and she revealed to us how this has affected her emotionally.

Bianca said that she's an emotional wreck right now, not because of the decision itself, but because of the grounds stated. "Nung time kasi na dumating yang annulment, sobra dami kong problema. Nasa hospital yung mommy ko, kaya hindi ako nakalaban. Alam mo bang wala nga akong lawyer nung nagsimula yan." she revealed.

"Kung yung (annulment) naman talaga ang gusto niya (Vhong), yung freedom… Kasi ako din naman yun din naman ang gusto ko, ibibigay ko yun sa kanya. Pero ang sakit lang kasi na lumalabas na napakasama kong babae," Bianca confessed. She added that she's more concerned about their son, Ice, who has been affected by the case. Atty. Dacay revealed that Ice has been teased about the annulment by other kids in school.

Atty. Bacay added that apart from worrying over her ailing mother, Bianca was also struggling financially which kept her from getting a lawyer to properly represent her in court. Atty. Bacay also said there was even one hearing that Bianca attended without legal counsel.

As of presstime, Bianca has yet to issue an official statement. ABS-CBN.com will post it as soon as it becomes available
